Natalie Portman sticks to veggies, dairy products
Eating a wholesome diet of fruits, vegetables, dairy and lean protein can help nearly anyone feel hale, hearty and adequately nourished. For pregnant women, a balanced regimen packed with produce and supplemented with other food groups is particularly important, which is why Natalie Portman is following just this sort of eating plan.
The Oscar-winning actress and expectant mother revealed that while she has remained a vegetarian since discovering that she is pregnant, she has decided not to go vegan, according to Atlanta's Q100 Bert Show.
Portman told the news outlet that she tried veganism for awhile, forgoing lean protein and milk, but she felt that the regimen did not provide her with adequate nutrition.
"I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff... I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff," she told the source.
"You have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels and supplement those if there are things you might be low in in your diet," Portman added.
Pregnancy aside, individuals who want to lose weight while maintaining their levels of vitamins and minerals may consider replacing processed foods with produce, fish, whole grains and organic milk.
