PBH recommends that individuals eat pineapple slices in place of some snacks or desserts that are loaded with carbohydrates or sugar. To ensure that the fruits are ripe, people should choose those that have dark green leaves and do not exhibit any soft spots.

Fava beans are also fat- and cholesterol-free. They have high amounts of healthy fiber, folate and mangenese, and also contain essential nutrients such as vitamin B1, iron, magnesium and potassium.

According to a PBH survey, 90 percent of moms reported that they believe fruits and vegetables are important to include in their family's diet. Other food groups that may help balance meals include whole grains and lean protein.
