HCG Injections Aren’t Necessary

If you’re participating in the HCG diet plan, you have two options as to your method of getting the HCG into your body.  You can either do it via a needle or by taking drops orally three times a day.  Call me crazy, but I’ll take something I can ingest orally over a shot any time.  Honestly, in my opinion HCG injections are an outmoded method of taking the supplement.

The HCG diet was invented 50 years ago by Dr. Simeons.  At that time, it was only available in weight loss clinics and spas, thus inaccessible to the vast majority of people.  It was also only available through injections. Dr. Simeons’ philosophy obviously focuses on HCG entering the body intravenously.  Half a century later, we’ve got other options.

The HCG drops have to be refrigerated, and you have to take them three times a day, which can be more inconvenient than a shot, but who cares? If I really want to lose weight, I can make that happen.  On the other hand, sticking a needle into myself once a day, forcing that shot of fluid through the skin into my thigh muscle—the thought is unnerving, and honestly, I’m not even one of those people who are squeamish about needles; weekly allergy shots as a kid cured me of that. The idea of giving myself shots just creeps me out a little.

Beyond my own personal neuroses and preferences, it just seems like it weighs on the side of logic to go with the method that causes no pain—no matter how minimal the pain associated with the injections might allegedly be—and has no chance of causing bruising, either.  Oral HCG is widely available and easy to obtain.  The benefits far outweigh small inconveniences like keeping it cool and remembering to take it three times a day.

To some, an injection is preferable, but for the people like myself, who don’t fancy the idea, you can get the same results without the needle!

The HCG diet plan is mostly about changing patterns—patterns of behavior and patterns of bodily functions.  HCG dieters successfully alter patterns of behavior by learning how to prepare nutritious, low-calorie meals from fresh food sources.  The HCG supplements, in turn, alter patterns on a bodily level by retraining the metabolic system, teaching cells to burn fat for energy rather than storing it.

The thing about the HCG diet plan is that it not only reprograms your body, it reprograms your brain.  Once you become accustomed to eating lean meats like chicken and fish, vegetables like asparagus and spinach, and fruits like grapefruit and strawberries, these foods actually become what your brain and your body crave.  Moreover, if you’re at a party and confronted with a buffet of food spread across a snack table, your brain will automatically seek out those foods that are the healthiest.

I know that unless you’ve actually experienced this phenomenon, you’ll be skeptical.  But I’m telling you, it’s the truth.  When you eat healthy foods, you can actually feel your body soaking in all of that health, nutrition, and goodness; you are palpably replenished, and it’s a great feeling.  It’s an addiction, I’m telling you.  Your body is no fool.  It will crave those nutrients and send signals to your brain to get it the foods that will give it that high.

So when, in the middle of the afternoon, in that lull between lunch and dinner, you start craving not a candy bar but a spinach salad, I’ll be the first one to say, “I told you so.”

What’s the Story on the HCG Diet and Exercise?

Here’s a good one for you:  a diet plan that doesn’t include exercise.  Moreover, it’s an alternative medicine diet plan that doesn’t include exercise.  Alternative medicine, as you know, is natural and non-pharmaceutical.  Usually those people are all about exercise.  But the HCG diet and exercise don’t really go together.

Don’t get me wrong:  it’s not that promoters of the HCG diet don’t like exercise or don’t think it’s beneficial to the body.  That couldn’t be further from the truth.  We’re all about exercise to maintain the success that you’ll most likely achieve with the diet. It’s just that exercise is not how the HCG diet works—in fact, heavy exercise in conjunction with the HCG plan can have adverse effects like loss of bone density and muscle mass.

Why is this?  The HCG diet involves supplements of HCG, the hormone Human Chorio Gonadotropin, along with a low-calorie diet.  The reason this works better than a low-calorie diet on its own is that if you’re just taking in fewer calories, your body will start storing fat.  HCG works by programming your body to burn fat rather than store it.  You don’t feel like you’re starving because you’re not—you’re using your reserves.

However, if you start exercising a lot, your body will start to starve—or at least your body will think it’s starving.  It’ll go into SOS mode and revert to storing fat, but because not enough calories are being consumed to replace those lost in exercise, the body will go to the next source:  its own muscle and bone.  Which I probably don’t have to tell you is a bad idea!

A little exercise is okay, if you’re an exercise junkie and just can’t go without—but you should limit yourself to a 20-minute walk, or a few sit-ups.  On this diet, exercise isn’t needed to burn calories.  Once the weight is off and your brain and your body have been reprogrammed in the concepts of portion control and using stored fat for energy (respectively), you can return to the gym to help keep up with the healthy new you.

In this day and age, it’s probably good to be suspicious of “miracle” cures.  Someone’s always trying to sell you something, after all.  But try not to let cynicism and pessimism prevent you from taking advantage of the truly good things out there, one of which is HCG—an actual human hormone that may just be the answer to weight loss.  The first question, of course, is always “Is HCG safe?”  So I’ll set your mind at ease about that, and we’ll go from there.

Do You Need to Exercise on the HCG Weight Loss Plan?

If you have ever tried to lose weight before or tried any other diets in your life, you most likely were told that you had to exercise for at least 60 minutes a day five to six times a week if you wanted to lose weight. Well, when you follow the HCG weight loss plan that is not the case. In fact, when you are on the HCG weight loss plan you are actually advised against any extreme exercising and need to take things slowly.

Can you imagine simply walking for 20 minutes a few times a week and that being the extent of your exercise and then lose 40 pounds in a month? If you were to follow the HCG weight plan, then that could potentially be you. When you follow this diet, you don’t need the six times a week of extreme exercise as the daily doses of the hormone HCG put your body into a fat burning zone that can’t even be accomplished with normal exercise.

Some people think that the HCG weight loss plan sounds too good to be true, but if you knew the science behind the diet, you would understand why you shouldn’t exercise on the diet.
