A dieter recently posted the following comment on the HCG Diet Direct Facebook page, “I’m on the HCG Diet right now and I’ve already lost 15 pounds, but I seem to be at a standstill. What should I do?”
At HCG Diet Direct we generally refer to this type of weight loss standstill as a plateau, and plateaus are normal. HCG Dieters often find themselves frustrated by a couple days without weight loss because they are used to seeing the scale drop each morning. The most important thing to remember is that plateaus happen and dieters should not let it affect their dedication to the HCG diet.
Generally speaking, the majority of dieters who hit a plateau at some point during their diet will see it near the end of their program. When you hit a plateau there are modifications to be made that will aid the dieter in getting back to losing weight.
- Cut beef out of the diet. Beef is the most fatty of the lean proteins that are on the approved foods list.
- Increase your water intake. Even if you are getting the recommended amount of water, drinking more water may be what your body needs to start losing weight again.
- Cutting Melba toast from your diet. This little bit of carbohydrates makes a big difference and can be the simple change that will get you back on track.
After trying these options some will find that they are still on a plateau. In this case dieters can try what is known as an apple day. An apple day will jump start the dieter so they start losing weight again. On an apple day HCG dieters simply eat 6-8 apples and drink plenty of water. Following this contingent HCG diet plan will result in weight loss the day following the apple day. HCG Diet Direct recommends that dieters do the apple day no more than 2 times per week.
