Ever since Dr. Simeons, a British born endocrinologist, first demonstrated the effects of HCG treatments when used with a low calorie diet to achieve healthy weight loss in 1954, dieters have sought out this powerful method. In the past the necessity for injections made HCG treatments cost prohibitive for the average person, but now with the popularity of oral HCG supplements things are beginning to change.
The HCG diet consists of combining a very low calorie diet with supplements of the Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin hormone. Technically, the Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin does not promote weight loss; that is the function of the caloric reduction. The HCG treatments are intended to compel the loss of fat stores that the body instantly protects during periods of reduced caloric consumption.
The plan is designed to produce one to two pounds of fat loss per day, and the dieter must have this much fat to lose. It is only effective for periods of less than a month at a time due to the low dosage, so it requires about 30 or 40 pounds of body fat to become a rational weight loss option. Also, exercise is not a part of the diet.
The low caloric intake is difficult at first, but it gets easier. By losing fat rather than lean muscle tissue, your metabolic rate will still be functioning normally after you return to a normal diet.
You may decide to restart the program again if you have more than 40 pounds to lose, but you may also find that activities such as aerobic exercise are much easier without the additional fat and find weight loss to be much more achievable after the jumpstart that this diet program provides. Some will find that repeating the program is the best way to lose additional weight, especially if they are extremely overweight, but for others the option will be there to go a different way.
