If you are on the HCG weight loss plan, you should enjoy a comfortable weight release of about a pound a day, until you finish the program. However, sometimes dieters can run into a stall, and this can be extremely frustrating. But before you give up on the program entirely, make sure that you are following the protocol exactly. It’s very common to get complacent on the program, particularly if you have been on it before, and you can make mistakes that lead to plateaus.
Check Your Behaviors
Begin by honestly checking your behaviors. Are you doing any of the following?
- Sneaking in exercise?
- Consuming more than the specific meal plan, which is designed to allow proper nutrition, allows each day?
- Drinking less than 2 liters of water per day?
- Consuming caffeine?
All of these behaviors will increase hunger and can lead to a plateau. Make sure you weigh or measure your food, track your caloric consumption and the number of ounces of water you drink, and lay off the caffeine. Stay out of the gym for the duration of the program! Changing these behaviors alone can break you out of a slump.
Try the Apple Day to Break a Stall
If you are carefully monitoring your behaviors and still find yourself facing a plateau, an apple day may help you get back on track. According to Dr. Simeons’ protocol, you may:
- Eat 6 apples of any variety for one day;
- Drink enough water to satisfy thirst for that day;
- Do not drink any other beverages or consume any other foods for the duration of that day.
This is particularly helpful if you are prone to water retention. Women may find it quite beneficial if they are suffering from pre-menstrual syndrome and have a great deal of water retention. Although the weight will release again naturally, the “apple day” treatment will help you through a stall and it helps you keep from feeling too discouraged.
When Weight Loss Begins to Plateau
If you find yourself on a plateau and nothing seems to budge, you may have reached your ideal weight. According to Dr. Simeons, there is an ideal weight for each individual person and you cannot budge below it, not even with oral HCG supplements. If you feel this may be your situation, then increase your calories and stay in maintenance for 3 weeks, then try going into phase 2. This will help break a stubborn stall and your results on this next round will determine if you have indeed reached your ideal weight, or if you had just hit a temporary stall.

If you would like to spread apart your daily calories that is fine. I always would eat one of my fruits for breakfast and then eat lunch and then either have my other fruit for a snack between meals or later after dinner if i got hungry.
Here are some plateau breakers:
Increase water amount (2-3 quarts per day)
Try to add a glass of green tea
Try a laxative (our Colon & Liver cleanse work great)
Are you taking our HCG diet Maximum Metabolizer & B-total? (these help immensely)
Don’t eat apples for the fruit or cut down on the size
Cut beef out
Take out breadsticks/ Melba toast
These may help you break the plateau that it seams that you have reached.
I am always hungrey I take the drops 3 times a day. Do the foods have to be used for meals or can I eat throughout the day with the approved foods? I haven`t quit yet but i haven`t loss weight in 4 days. Please help.
