Here’s the scoop on the HCG diet and exercise: they’re not peanut butter and jelly. In other words, they don’t go together.
What?! A diet without exercise! That goes against everything you’ve been taught, that can’t be right—can it? Well, actually, yes. You don’t want to exercise on the HCG diet because you’re only eating weight loss a day.
Effects of exercise while using HCG
The HCG signals your body to burn fat rather than muscle to compensate for this shortage in calories. However, if you throw exercise into the mix, your body won’t have any choice but to start consuming its own muscle. I can burn over weight loss just walking on the treadmill for 45 minutes. If that was all I was eating in a day, it’s the same as not eating at all.
If you feel like you need some sort of physical activity to make your day complete, then you can do some simple stretching or low-key walking for no more than 20 minutes. No power walking! We’re talking a nice, relaxed stroll.
Exercise when the diet is over
You can be on the HCG diet for up to 40 days at a time. Once you’re off it, exercise is more than encouraged! You’ll probably find that you have a lot more energy to devote to it, too. You’ll be both looking and feeling better. Maybe better than you’ve ever felt because you’ll have lost fat that your body had been hoarding for years. You’ll look and feel more toned because your muscles won’t be padded by fat.
If you’re currently so overweight that physical activity is difficult or even impossible, then this is perfect. What better news than a way to lose that debilitating weight without surgery or need to exercise? Once you lose it, my hope is that you’ll find yourself wanting to exercise. The HCG diet is amazing in that way, too. It inspires the cultivation of healthier habits and lifestyles.
It teaches you the right foods to eat, and in what combinations, to give yourself energy and make yourself feel good. You’ll be bouncing off the walls before you know it—maybe literally!
