Avoiding temptation is not easy once the HCG diet plan is initiated. It becomes very convenient to justify in one’s mind, eating things that may not be on the diet. This is especially true when you get very hungry, which can and will happen on this diet plan. This justification comes much easier if the dieter is in a place that offers many temptations. Some of these places include:
- Parties – It seems like once a dieter starts on the program, all of his or her friends start having parties, and as we all know, there is no better tasting food than party food!
- Theaters – There has never been a movie made that contained calories. However, the items they serve at the theater all have an abundance of them. One of the biggest threats to our calorie well-being is the popcorn. Even if you go in with the intention of having no popcorn, the aromatic effect it has can be devastating to good intentions.
- Bakeries – The smell of the bakery is alluring for sure, and it may be necessary to go in to make a purchase for your family or perhaps a gift for someone. It is also easy to say that it will not hurt to just have a cupcake, or pastry. After all, you can jump right back into it … right? And of course, the day you go in will be the day they are sampling chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, or whatever your personal favorite happens to be.
- Restaurants – This is the biggie! While it is actually possible to go into a restaurant and stick to the diet, it is not particularly easy. You will find that the day you are there is the day they will bring out the freshest bread, or the free deserts, or some sort of extra goodie the chef wanted to surprise you with. It never fails!
There are ways to avoid temptations that these areas offer. HCG Diet Direct has some great ideas and suggestions. However, there is no better substitute than avoiding these places. If you stay out of them while you are on the program, you will be money ahead. You can, however, get creative while faced with some of these pitfall areas. For instance, when you walk into a restaurant, don’t try to find something on the menu that is perfectly conducive to your diet, as it most likely does not exist. Lean meats and fish are great, but they are sautéed in oils and butter. Salads are usually pretty healthy until the dressing (containing oil, no doubt) is poured on, the cheese is added and the croutons are dropped in. When the server comes to the table, simply tell him to have the chef prepare exactly what you would eat if you were at home. They can do it; they just need to know. Let him know that you will have a salad with nothing but lettuce, and to please bring some vinegar and fresh pepper to place on that lettuce. If you are in the mood for desert, go ahead and have them bring you some plain strawberries or an apple. If they cannot, wait until you get home.
If you go to a party, either bring your own food to eat with the others, or just don’t eat!
Don’t let others tell you that it is okay to compromise your diet for a particular occasion … it’s not, nor is it worth it.
Avoiding temptation is not easy, but it is very much worth it.
