Start Out By Loading Up
This is probably the most common mistake that people make on the HCG diet. They start out taking HCG drops, but then go straight to the low calorie diet. It is vital that you spend two days increasing your metabolism by loading up on high-fat, high-carb food. You should actually enjoy this; big fluffy omelets dripping with butter and deep-fried hash browns for breakfast, a double cheeseburger with the works and fries for lunch, and triple cheese pizza with sausage and pepperoni for dinner – then do it all again the next day!
The purpose here is not to allow you one last chance for indulgence before starting in on the low calorie diet; this loading prepares your physiology by increasing your metabolic rate, which leads to the furious rate of fat burning that the HCG will trigger after 48 hours of what would otherwise be “starvation rations.” (Of course, you won’t starve because you’re feeding your body what it craves – fat – and after the first two days, you’ll barely feel it.)
Listen to the Doctor
In Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity, Dr. Simeons specifically says that while on the low calorie diet, you must eat something different at each meal – and no more than one protein and one vegetable at a single meal. This is yet another mistake that people make. If you had fish and cucumbers for lunch, you need to choose lean beef and celery or chicken and spinach for dinner.
Keep Going
Another common error is to start back in on sugars and carbs too once you’ve finished the HCG. You actually need to continue the low calorie diet for at least two more days and stay away from the carbs and sugars for another three weeks. After this however, you can gradually add these back to your diet.
