About Dr. Simeons

A.T.W. Simeons attended the prestigious University of Heidelberg Medical School in the years just following the First World War, graduating with honors before going on to specialize in endocrinology. After completing his post-graduate studies, he took up a post at a hospital in Hamburg, Germany, where tropical diseases were studied and treated.

His interest in diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and leprosy took him to Africa in the late 1920s. In 1931, he traveled to Mumbai (Bombay) India, where he spend eighteen years studying and treating patients with thyroid disorders that had lead to morbid obesity.

How The HCG Diet Works

When used in conjunction with the Low Calorie Diet, HCG works to facilitate weight loss in two ways.

First, it re-regulates the hypothalamus gland, which controls the body’s metabolism. When calories are reduced under “normal” circumstances, the hypothalamus draws nutrients from the most readily available sources of nutrition namely, lean muscle tissue and structural fat, such as the viscera that protects the internal organs.
