In other entries, we’ve discussed what HCG is and how it normally functions in the human body. Today, we’ll be delving into the actual biomechanics of HCG fat loss. It is important to understand that HCG is not a miracle cure-all. It is one component of an overall, comprehensive weight loss method that forces your body to feed on its extraneous fat deposits (adipose).
The Nature of Adipose
This particular form of fat is especially troublesome and under normal conditions, very difficult to get rid of simply by dieting and exercise. The problem is with our evolutionary development. This form of fat evolved to function as a reserve of last resort.
Suppose you have a great financial portfolio. It is made up of cash reserves, such as checking and savings accounts; possibly some hard assets, such as gold or antiques that can be used as a medium of exchange in the event of an emergency; and investments, such as stocks and bonds or a 401k.
If you need to, you can easily pull money out of a checking or savings account. Selling off gold, silver, or other hard assets may take a few days, but it is not difficult to do. Liquidating your other assets is another story. Depending on the vagrancies of the stock market, you may not be able to unload them at any price. Retirement accounts cannot usually be accessed without going through a lot of paperwork and paying stiff penalties. It is very difficult to squeeze ready cash out of these accounts.
Since you understand this, you can understand how fat and other body tissues work. Lean tissue and visceral fat are like bank accounts and precious metals. When there are too few calories ingested, the body can metabolize these without too much trouble. On the other hand, adipose – the stuff around your middle and/or hips – is like that 401k that you cannot get into or liquidate easily.
The HCG Hormone
“Chorionic Gonadotropin” is a very specialized hormone that is unique to primate species such as monkeys, apes and humans. HCG is the human variety. When you take this as part of Dr. Simeons’ protocols on the HCG diet (meaning the fat-free low calorie diet), it does not actually break up adipose directly.
A hormone is a chemical messenger that instructs cells what to do. In this case, HCG communicates with fat cells via the hypothalamus gland, which ultimate controls all of our endocrine functions. It literally tells them to supply the body with energy, since it’s not getting enough from food sources.
That last part is extremely important. The body needs and craves fat and you do not want to give it any choices in the matter. If another fat source is available while you are on the HCG diet, your body will go for it and leave adipose untouched. This is why it is vitally important to follow Dr. Simeons’ protocols to the letter. Pay careful attention on how to prepare yourself, what and what not to eat while on the program, and when to take time away from it.
