I’m talking about balance in all aspects of life:  outside of us and inside of us.  Outside, there are all the daily pressures, the pushes and pulls of the world that surrounds us.  There’s frequently a lack of balance between work and play, especially in our dog-eat-dog, time-is-money capitalist economy.

Then there is the problem of balance in our bodies.  Our systems are really very fragile and can be easily upset.  An extended period of not really noticing what you’re eating because eating has become an irritating necessity that just gets in the way of everything else you have to do—even though you really used to enjoy mealtimes—can truly throw off your system.

The Restoration of Balance

HCG Diet Plans: Follow All Directions for Weight Loss Success

The HCG diet plans have been proven to work extremely well, but only to the extent that all aspects of Dr. Simeons’ protocols are followed. This form of hormone replacement therapy can help you to lose up to two pounds a day, but the diet won’t work unless you follow directions.

Eat To Get Ready

Once you have your HCG drops, you’ll need to do something that may feel very odd. You need to indulge yourself as much as possible for two days. Gorge yourself on cream puffs, ice cream, lasagna, pizza, deep-fried chicken, sour cream enchiladas, ham and mashed potatoes with gravy, buttered peas – anything goes, as long as it’s high in fat content.  Enjoy it, because you won’t see these foods again for at least six weeks.

Why? The purpose is to prepare your body for what is to come. Stuffing your body with all these fat laden comestibles will actually have the effect of revving up your metabolism, giving it momentum for the next forty days or so.

Let The Diet Begin

Once you start taking HCG, you will start eating like an ascetic in a medieval monastery. You will get three, extremely small meals a day, consisting of very lean meat and fresh vegetables. This will be baked or broiled – absolutely no frying or fat of any kind are allowed. You may even have to forgo skin creams and soaps that contain fat, even if that means bathing in plain water.

Why? The reason is that your body requires a certain amount of fat from your diet. What you want is for your body to have no choice but to obtain the fat it needs from your excess stores. Of course, it won’t do this on its own, which is why HCG is a necessary component.

The excess fat around your abdomen or hips is in a form that cannot be readily accessed as a nutrient unless it is broken down chemically and the hypothalamus, which ultimately controls all endocrine functions, is directed somehow to consume these fat stores.

This is what HCG does: breaks down fat deposits into an available form while programming the hypothalamus to consume these reserves in order to keep the metabolic rate high. Your body requires between 1,500 and 2,500 calories a day to operate.  It will get the fat and calories somehow. On the HCG diet, your body has no choice but to get those calories from your fat deposits.

It’s always a good idea to learn as much about HCG diet plans as possible before you get started. You will probably read or hear a lot of conflicting information.  As long as you understand what HCG is and how it works with Dr. Simeons’ protocols to produce dramatic weight loss results, you will be more comfortable with the HCG diet.  Therefore, you will be more likely to stick with it.

Hormones: The HCG Effect

There are dozens of different hormones in the human body, each of which has its own function. In essence, however, they are all chemical messengers that allow the various physiological systems to communicate with one another. Specifically, hormones deliver messages to the cells, which then carry out the instructions encoded in those biochemical messages.

HCG, or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is one such chemical messenger. Its primary tasks are carried out during the initial stages of pregnancy. It is actually excreted by the fetus. The biochemical message to the mother is essentially “back off.” Without HCG, it is possible that the mother’s system could leech nutrients away from the fetus. Her immune system might also detect the father’s DNA and attack the fetus as if it were a foreign pathogen.

HCG prevents these things from happening.

HCG is a Hormone Therapy

As people age, production of certain hormones begins to taper off. HCG production ceases toward the end of pregnancy, though babies are born with quite a lot of it still in their systems. During childhood, HCG tends to regulate the metabolism, but because of various factors, the natural supply of HCG gets used up. It is virtually depleted by the time a person reaches adulthood.

At the same time, many people tend to collect excess fat as the age. It is different with each individual, and the reasons are varied. According to Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, who pioneered the use of HCG in the treatment of obesity, fat accumulation is a combination of genetics, modern eating patterns, dietary choices and culture.

Regardless of the causes, the particular form of fat that gets stored is one that is not particularly accessible. This is a major reason that most “traditional” diets fail. When a person reduces their caloric intake, the first thing that happens is that the hypothalamus slows down the metabolism. Next, the body starts feeding off of muscle tissue and structural fat that protects the internal organs.

By the time this has been used and the body turns to these adipose deposits, the dieter is tired and discouraged and usually gives up.

The HCG Difference

Adipose – the excess fat that we all try to rid ourselves of – is a form of fat that needs to be broken down in order to be useful. This is what HCG does: it breaks up these fat molecules so that when one is one a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD), calories from fat are available to make up the deficit.

At the same time, HCG insures that the hypothalamus gland doesn’t turn down the thermostat while you’re following Dr. Simeons’ protocols, which is what leads to the dramatic weight loss results that people have enjoyed on the HCG program.

Eating While on HCG Diet Plans

HCG diet plans may seem like magic, but they are not. They are based on solid scientific research. Furthermore, an HCG diet works only to the extent that Dr. Simeon’s protocols are followed. You cannot consume more than 500 calories a day (this forces your body to pull out the additional 1,000 – 2,000 calories necessary for normal metabolism from your fat stores when regulated by HCG), and there are only certain foods that you may eat. This is important; all aspects of the HCG diet work together to restore balance to your bodily systems and normal fat burning.

Verboten

You will need to eliminate all sources of fat – and not only from your diet. Soaps and skin creams that contain fat should also be avoided. Basically, you need to make certain that your body has no other source of fat other than what you are carrying around your belly or hips. Fat is necessary for good health, but if there is another source available, your body will get it from that source and not your own fat stores. For this reason, you must also avoid sugar and refined grains – which as carbohydrates are chemically similar to fat and metabolize in the same way.

Alcohol is also forbidden. In addition to being largely empty calories, alcohol is a depressant that can slow down your metabolism – and this you absolutely do not want to have happen.

In General

Pretty much, all you are allowed to have while on the HCG program is lean meat, poultry and fish and fresh vegetables. For drink, think black coffee, unsweetened tea, or plain water. It is best to select organic foods and purified water, since chemical adulterants have played a major part in throwing our bodies out of balance and causing abnormal weight gain in the first place. If you must have something sweet, you are allowed a small apple, citrus fruit or cup of berries (unsweetened, unless you are using stevia).

Your Daily Diet

Breakfast will generally be half a citrus fruit (such as grapefruit) or an apple and a cup of tea. At lunch, you may have a bit of chicken or cold water fish with some celery, onion and lettuce, along with a piece of whole grain zwieback. Dinner could be a small piece of lean ham or beef with spinach or asparagus.

It is important that these foods not be fried in oil or butter. They may be roasted in an oven or grilled, but again, you need to avoid ingesting any fat whatsoever in order for the HCG program to work.

Staying With It

HCG diets may not have a lot of appeal, but keep in mind that once the HCG kicks in, you won’t be feeling hungry or deprived. In fact, because of the fat that’s being burned, these small portions are likely to be quite satisfying.

In any event, you won’t be on the HCG for very long at a time. Because the body builds up tolerance to HCG, it is necessary to take a three-to-four week break every 21-42 days.

Anyone can do anything for a few weeks – and the rewards are worth it.

The Mechanics of HCG Diet Plans

HCG diet plans are based on principles that were developed sixty years ago as the result of research, treatments and study of obese patients in India. These patients suffered from thyroid disorders that had caused them to become morbidly obese. In the course of this research, Dr. A.T.W. Simeons came up with very interesting, and even startling conclusions about the nature of obesity and its treatment.

What Is HCG

The “Human Chorionic Gonadotropin” hormone is a byproduct of the gestation process. During pregnancy, it protects the fetus and helps to create a viable environment in which fetal development can take place.

While humans retain a large amount of this hormone in childhood, it is generally depleted by the time adulthood is reached.

During the early and mid-twentieth century, Dr. Simeons worked in India and had an opportunity to observe patients with thyroid conditions that had caused them to become morbidly obese. He treated these patients with small doses of HCG and discovered that the treatment actually caused these patients to drop pounds when nothing else worked.

In 1954, Dr. Simeons published his findings in a paper entitled Pounds and Inches. According to his research, obesity is not a natural condition at all, but rather an abnormality that is due to a number of different factors both genetic and environmental. For reasons that are not altogether clear, some people are predisposed to fat accumulation regardless of how little they eat, while others can eat as much as they please and never gain a pound.

How HCG Restores Balance

If obesity is primarily the result of imbalance, the HCG diet can restore the balance. Used according to Dr. Simeons’ protocols and a Very Low Calorie diet, HCG restores proper balance by first making these excess fat deposits available as an energy source. Then refocusing the hypothalamus gland (that part of the brain responsible for the control of metabolic processes) toward utilizing this energy source.

Thus, when you reduce your caloric intake to 25% of the amount required to sustain normal metabolic levels, your hypothalamus is forced to make up the deficit from fat.

HCG Diet Plans Make the Whole Body Healthy

If you’re looking at HCG diet plans as a way to lose weight, I’ve got good news for you. Using the oral HCG diet will not only help you lose weight, but can, if you let it, help you make yourself an overall healthier, happier person.

HCG Diet Plans Don’t Deny You Dessert

Ah, the old sweet-tooth.  It always gets you.  You think you can run from it, ignore it, deny it, but it always catches up in the end.  The truth is, that in a world so chock-full of everyday challenges and demands, it’s hard to refuse ourselves those little pleasures that make it all just a little easier, a little more enjoyable.  HCG diet plans recognize that we need to acknowledge the importance of the little things and that it’s possible to have them and be healthy—yes, at the same time!
