Phase One: Getting Ready

Phase One of the HCG diet is preparation; you want to get your metabolism going as fast as you can in order to optimize the rate of fat burn during the next phase. In order to do this, you will need to indulge yourself in the most gluttonous, hedonistic way possible for your first two days on HCG. Fluffy omelets cooked in butter, rich pasta swimming in full-fat cream sauce, thick juicy steaks topped with mushroom gravy, fruit pie a la mode – go for it!

And enjoy it… it will be your last (for a while, at least – unless like many people after successfully completing the HCG program, you decide you don’t crave these foods any more).

Phase Two: The 500-Calorie, Fat-Free Diet

The next forty days or so, you will be eating the equivalent of a handful of nuts every day. Of course, you will not actually be eating nuts – and you’ll be spreading those calories over the course of the day.

The good news is that it’s very simple. Coffee or tea in the morning (no sugar), and you’re ready to go. Lunch is a piece of lean meat (preferably buffalo rather than beef) and a vegetable that grows above ground, and supper is a chicken breast or a piece of broiled, deep-sea fish and a different vegetable. You can also have a grapefruit or an apple, and switch the proteins between lunch and dinner if you like. In fact, it is important to eat something different at each meal in order to keep your system guessing – and thus drawing on those excess fat reserves.

Phase Three – Winding Down

You’ll stop taking HCG on around day forty, but continue with the 500-calorie diet for about three days to allow the HCG to clear out of your system. Gradually, you can return to eating regular meals, but don’t start in on carbs until week three – after which you can gradually add these to your diet again.

While dementia and Alzheimer’s are conditions to which none of us aspire, we can learn something from these patients.  You’ve heard the phrase, “It’s the little things.”  Well, it is, in fact, the little things.

Rather than being bogged down with everything you have to do, focus on one little task at a time, such as preparing a healthy, nutritious meal.  The HCG diet teaches you how to make these types of meals.

How HCG Weight Loss Programs Can Help You

Despite the fact that they work exceptionally well and get results where other diet programs fail, there is nothing magic about HCG weight loss programs. The use of the HCG hormone (which is usually a fertility treatment) for dieting success is based on nearly two decades of scientific research that was undertaken by Dr. Simeons over sixty years ago.

The Medical Science Behind the HCG Diet

Dr. A.T.W. Simeons was a specialist in the study of endocrinology. This branch of medicine is concerned with the body’s “ductless” glands, such as the thyroid and hypothalamus. The latter plays an important role in metabolism and how one’s body utilizes energy sources.

When Simeons was working in India on the staff of a Mumbai hospital in the 1930s and 1940s, he had an opportunity to observe the effects of HCG when administered to overweight patients suffering from a particular thyroid dysfunction that had caused them to become dangerously obese. Small doses of this hormone, derived from the urine of pregnant women, resulted in significant weight reduction in these patients.

Dr. Simeons on the Nature of Obesity

In 1954, Dr. Simeons published a paper entitled Pounds and Inches, in which he described obesity as a pathological condition due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors, not simply the result of overeating. According to Dr. Simeons, certain people are predisposed to weight gain, regardless of how much or little they eat, while others can “pack it away” and never gain a pound.

He concluded that part of the problem was the absence of the human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (HCG). It is in plentiful supple during childhood and adolescence, but largely gone by adulthood reintroducing HCG into the endocrine system helps to restore balance and eliminate excess pounds.

Why a Low Calorie Diet is Necessary

HCG does not work by itself. It is not a “magic bullet.” Rather, it causes physiological changes in body chemistry that allows weight loss to occur under certain conditions.

When calories are reduced under normal conditions, the body will resist these weight loss efforts in every way possible. Instead of excess fat disappearing, the first to go is lean muscle tissue, followed by structural fat. The excess fat, known as adipose, is consumed only when everything else has been used and by that time, most dieters are so weak and discouraged that they understandably give up on the program.

The problem lies in the biochemical nature of adipose. This is a form of fat that is not easily broken down. HCG helps to break down these deposits so that the energy stored in the fat molecules can be used first in making up the difference under a low calorie regimen.

HCG also helps to re-regulate the hypothalamus gland, which controls bodily metabolism. The hypothalamus is like the body’s “thermostat.” When fuel (calories) is in short supply, this gland reacts by slowing down metabolic processes.  HCG prevents this from happening and forces the hypothalamus to obtain energy from adipose first rather than last.

By combining Dr. Simeons’ Very Low Calorie Diet with HCG, HCG weight loss programs can work where other diets do not.

HCG Weight Loss Programs Lead to Healthier Lifestyles

There are a lot of parents out there currently using oral HCG for obesity treatment. I’m intensely glad about this for their sakes, but I’m also glad for the sakes of their children, for the future of our country and of the world.

This gladness is due to the fact that HCG weight loss programs lead to people becoming informed about health and therefore changing their habits to accommodate healthier lifestyles.  When parents change habits and lifestyles, it follows that these changes will rub off on their children.

Does Healthier Equal Happier
Why do I think this will have such a positive impact on the future?  Well, it’s actually very simple:  healthier people are happier people.  They have to be. You can’t be healthy without experiencing some degree of mental and emotional contentment, and you can’t be entirely happy if you aren’t experiencing a sense of physical well-being.

So, we’ve got healthier, happier people, children who have learned from their parents about healthy lifestyles and grown up to promote those lifestyles and pass them along to their own children.

Healthier Lives Means a Better Future
These types of people, I think, tend to be more compassionate toward others, because they have more positive energy to share.  They make decisions that take into account not only their own personal well-being but the well-being of those around them, of the world. Because they understand that it’s hard to be healthy and happy yourself if the world around you is not.

Like many who have come before me, I cherish a dream of a better future.  I dream  of a future in which our children do not suffer from obesity.  A future in which they can go outside and play without choking on pollution, in which the majority of the foods they buy in their neighborhood grocery stores are naturally healthy and free of toxic chemicals, rather than the opposite.

I believe that this dream can be achieved, but it starts with individuals and then families and grows outward to engulf the world.  I believe that something as simple as the HCG diet can hold the answer.
