As with any medicine we put into our bodies, we want to know if it is safe. Is HCG safe, and are there limited side effects? For those of us considering the HCG method, we want to know is HCG safe for everyone?
The FDA has approved HCG for its applications as a fertility treatment and for sexual development disorders. Even though it has not been approved by the FDA for weight loss purposes, many thousands of people have safely lost unwanted weight in short amounts of time.
Yes, both men and women can use this hormone as part of a diet program for controlling weight. It naturally occurs in the bodies of both sexes already. When the natural levels are elevated a bit, the body naturally utilizes (burns off) bad body fat as an energy source.
The fact that pregnant women experience HCG levels much higher than actually required by the diet program proves the safety of using the hormone. They are actually the source from where much of the HCG available today is derived.
Many of the side effects associated with HCG usage have to do with the injection method of dosing the hormone. Skin irritations or soreness at the injection site have been reported but are rather rare in occurrence. New oral HCG drops eliminate this potential, however.
Other possible side effects have to do with the limited calorie portion of the diet and not so much the supplement portion itself. Pain and swelling of the stomach, nausea, pelvic pain, irritability, and shortness of breath are some side effects people have reported, but again, these are rare.
Any diet program or medical procedure is going to have the potential for unwanted side effects. Because the HCG method has been around for years, the guidelines have become finely tuned and the chance of any side effect has been minimized.
