Eating Right On The HCG Weight Loss Plan

Yes, your calories are restricted on the HCG weight loss plan. weight losss admittedly isn’t much. It is equivalent to:

  • a handful of peanuts
  • a cheeseburger with the works
  • a slice of pizza with everything
  • a large order of french fries

And of course, you won’t be eating those weight losss at one sitting; it’s important to space them out over the course of the day, and make the correct choices as specified by Dr. Simeons’ protocols.

HCG Diet Errors

It is primarily due to incorrect eating patterns that cause people’s weight loss efforts to fail when on the HCG diet. This will answer the most frequently-asked questions that people have about the HCG diet.

The most common mistake people make is failing to eat properly during the initial phase of the diet. It is understandable to be confused; stuffing one’s self with high-fat foods when trying to lose weight seems counter-intuitive at best. However, it is necessary. When you flood your system with high-fat food, it gives your metabolism a running start, so the proverbial throttle is “wide open” once the HCG starts to kick in and your calories are suddenly cut back to the bare minimum.

Variety – The Key To Success

Another mistake some people make on the HCG program is to eat the same thing at every meal. Dr. Simeons is very clear on this point: if you choose one kind of protein and a particular vegetable for lunch – let’s say, halibut and celery – then you must have something different at supper – for example, lean beef (or buffalo, which has almost no fat) and spinach. It is important not to allow your body to fall into a comfortable rut and thus adapt; this will sabotage your weight loss efforts.

Patience Has its Rewards

Once you stop taking HCG, you may or may not be in a hurry to get back to your normal patterns of eating. Most people find that the experience actually changes them; they become more satisfied with less. In any event, you need to continue the weight loss diet for at least three days while any residual HCG passes out of your body. By the fourth day, you should be able to go back to eating larger meals, but make sure that you continue to eliminate carbs (sugars and starches) for at least two, and preferably three weeks before you start adding them back in a little at a time.

The Optional Phase Four

If you need to lose more weight than is possible in a single six-week session, make certain that you do not continue to take HCG past the six-week point. The problem is that your system can build up a tolerance to the hormone, and it will have less effect. Take at least three weeks off before starting a new session.

The HCG Weight Loss Cure as Part of a Comprehensive Strategy

It is important to understand that the HCG weight loss cure has several components, of which the HCG hormone is only one. If you order homeopathic HCG drops, start taking them then do nothing else and expect the pounds and inches to magically disappear, you will be disappointed – and will have wasted your money.

Dr. Simeons’ Protocols

Dr. A.T.W. Simeons’ findings were based on several years of scientific observation on the effects of HCG on physiological mechanisms when a subject was placed on a low calorie diet. The fact is that anyone will lose weight on a low calorie diet. The problem is that by itself, such a low calorie diet is likely to result in crankiness, feelings of deprivation, and in some cases can be genuinely harmful to one’s good health (although this can be mitigated somewhat by drinking plenty of water and taking vitamin supplements.)

Aside from that, the fat is likely to come off at a painfully slow rate; under most normal conditions, on such a calorie-restricted diet the body is likely to consume muscle tissue and structural fat long before it turns to excess adipose deposits—which is what most people want to rid themselves of!  As Dr. Simeons himself pointed out:

When an obese patient tries to reduce by starving himself, he will first
lose his normal fat reserves. When these are exhausted he begins to
burn up structural fat, and only as a last resort will the body yield up its
abnormal reserves, though by that time the patient usually feels so weak
and hungry that the diet is abandoned. It is just for this reason that obese
patients complain that when they diet they lose the wrong fat. They feel
famished and tired and their face becomes drawn and haggard, but their
belly, hips, thighs and upper arms show little improvement. The fat they
have come to detest stays on and the fat they need to cover their bones
gets less and less. Their skin wrinkles and they look old and miserable…
that is one of the most frustrating and depressing experiences a human

How HCG Changes The Equation

HCG drops or injections are a tool; they do not actually cause weight loss, but rather enable certain physiological mechanisms in the human body that cause it to feed directly on the fat that people are trying to lose.

Dr. Simeons is not the only one to have proven the effectiveness of HCG when taken in conjunction with a low calorie diet. In 1974, two weight loss specialists, Drs. A.W. Asher and Harold Harper, published the results of a study clearly showing that HCG injections reduced feelings of hunger and deprivation and promoted feelings of well-being and energy while subjects were on the low calorie diet.

You Mean I’m Not a Lazy Glutton?

It has become popular in our often dysfunctional culture to blame the victim: someone who is unemployed, poor, sick or fat must have a character defect and therefore deserves what s/he gets.

Of course, you and I know very well that this is complete and utter nonsense (to put it politely) – and grossly unfair. While there may be a few individuals whose weight problem may be due to overindulgence in rich food, most people have very little conscious control over their weight. The causes may be:

  • glandular
  • hormonal
  • metabolic
  • age-related
  • any combination of these factors

This is what Dr. Simeons finally understood. Obesity is not a natural phenomenon, and is a complex condition with numerous causes. The bottom line is that the excess fat – known as adipose tissue – can be tricky to get rid of by simply dropping your caloric intake. Yes, anyone will eventually lose weight on a 500-calorie-a-day diet, but what you’re likely to lose first is not the weight you’re trying to get rid of (and it’s going to be very unpleasant).
